This book (currently out of print) has been totally rewritten and will be published under the title of Hidden Motive.

When an ice storm strands Dr. Sable Chamberlin and paramedic Paul Murphy in the southern Missouri hills, they assume they're safe from the mysterious killer responsible for murdering Sable's grandfather and Paul's uncle. But while searching Sable's childhood home and connecting caves for clues, it becomes clear that real danger has followed them. Soon, Sable and Murph, fighting for their lives, discover secrets worth killing for. . .and unexpected treasure more costly than gold. Combining the rich setting of the Ozark hills with compelling and diverse characters, Hannah Alexander has crafted a fast-moving novel sure to keep readers asking the question--"whodunit?"

Suspense, mystery, romance, humor, and quirky characters - this book has it all.

Dr. Sable Chamberlain finds herself running home, but not to safety. Paul Murphy, the new paramedic in her clinic, ends up fleeing with her to the family mountain lodge and getting stuck with an unlikely set of characters. Suspicions, fear and adrenaline flow freely as Paul and Sable search for answers without letting anyone else in the party know what clues have been found.

Shadows within the house and deeper down in the cavern send heart rates jumping. Terrors from the past keep everyone on edge. Who is friend and who is foe? Everyone is

under suspicion, but will anyone make it out before the truth can set them free?

This is the first Hannah Alexander book I’ve read, but it will NOT be my last. It’s hard to stump me when it comes to plot and mystery. I couldn’t figure this one out. No one can be ruled out and no one can be exonerated.

From the first page you are taken on a roller coaster ride. The Crystal Cavern is a page-turner and very hard to put down. The characters are strong and believable and easy to get to know.

I highly recommend The Crystal Cavern to readers.
